Open cell ceiling

Open cell ceiling is a new type of suspended ceiling that allows the architects to create original design solutions for rooms thanks to a wide range of colors and textures of the ceiling elements. This is a very interesting and unusual architectural solution that complements and decorates the interior, introducing a fresh note. It is a very promising type of suspended ceilings as it has many advantages over other types of ceilings. The space between the ceiling and the open cell ceiling is well and freely ventilated. Open cell ceilings have a high fire safety factor and are also made of stainless steel with a thickness of about 0.25 mm, so they can be used in a relatively humid environment.

Open cell ceiling has the following quality characteristics:

- Reliably hides technical ductwork above the ceiling.

- Provides easy access to technical ductwork. Special grids that can be easily removed are provided for this purpose.

- The use of open cell ceilings allows to create various options for lighting systems, the use of lamps of various types, including lamps built into the space behind the suspended ceiling. This allows to create a variety of lighting effects and generally broadens room design possibilities.

Open cell ceiling is sufficiently resistant to unfavorable weather conditions, corrosion, sunlight. The layer covering the ceiling elements is permanent.

Cell sizes of an open cell ceiling

The number of profiles used in each grid determines the cell size of the mesh. Currently, standard open cell suspended ceilings are produced in ten versions, with cells of 30x30, 40x40, 50x50, 60x60, 75x75, 86x86, 100x100, 120x120, 150x150 and 200x200 millimeters.

600 x 600 mm raster, which consists of the profiles:
- 600 mm upper profile

- 600 mm lower profile

- 600 mm cross profile

- 2400 mm bearing profile

- 2400 mm bearing profiles connector

- suspension (of adjustable length)

Raster mesh consists of elements made of galvanized steel sheet, 0.25 mm thick, of U cross section, 10 mm base and 40 mm high;

The weight of the open cell ceiling depends on the cell size (2-6 kg / m2);

Suspended ceiling mounting instructions

Step 1. We start the installation of the open cell ceiling by determining its level using a laser level and drawing it on the walls. The distance from the suspended ceiling to the main one must be at least 150 mm.

Step 2. Wall angle bracket is mounted at the perimeter. It is mounted on dowels, the distance between the dowels is 300-500 mm.

Step 3. Lines of the bearing profiles course and the points of fixing the racks are marked on the ceiling. The racks are mounted on dowels previously embedded in the ceiling with a step of 800-1000 mm.
Racks closest to the wall should be fixed at a distance of not more than 600 mm from the wall. The suspension consists of an expansion spring and two rods (with a hook and an eyelet) or a rod and a system rack.

Step 4. Bearing profile are attached to the racks, and when connected with perpendicular crossbars, they form a grid - the structure of the open cell ceiling.
Bearing profiles are connected with each other using connectors.

Step 5. On a flat, clean surface, collect the upper profile and the lower profile of the ceiling into a raster.
Mount open cell ceiling panels from the top to the prepared and properly leveled grid. Bottom profiles in the panel must be parallel to the 2400 mm long bearing profile.
